COACHES RULES
1. Any coach who uses any type of profanity on the field will be ejected.
2. Tobacco use on the field is prohibited and the coach will be ejected.
3. Any coach who gets ejected for arguing with the umpire will be asked to leave the field. Clarification: This means the coach must leave the Boys & Girls Club of Ouachita County properties; he is not even allowed to sit in the stands. The coach has 5 minutes to leave. If he does not leave in 5 minutes his team will have to forfeit the rest of the game.
4. Once a coach has been ejected he or she must sit out the next game and meet with the Executive director and the Athletic Director before he returns. He will be allowed to be on the field prior to the start of the game, but after the game starts he must leave the area. Non-compliance will result in a forfeit.
5. Any coach who continues arguing with the umpire after he has been ejected or becomes irate (throws a bat, helmet, or any object or becomes violent) will be placed on suspension until the Executive director and board members decide on what disciplinary action will be made. Disciplinary actions are as follows.
a. Will be suspended for five games
b. Will be suspended for the rest of the season and will have to get board approval to ever get to come back in the future.
6. If any parent becomes vocal during the game for any reason, time will be called by the umpire. The umpire will talk with both coaches to verify which team the parent is supporting. The child’s coach will ask the parent to be quiet and enjoy the game. If the parent continues, then he or she will be asked to leave the game or the game will be a forfeit.
7. At no time will a coach grab, push, curse, or become violent towards any child during the game. If this happens, the coach will be removed from the game and will not be allowed to coach.
8. Head coaches are required to be present at least 90 percent of the games and stay for the entire game. Failure to do this, you loose your seniority coaching status.
9. Assistant coaches are required to be at least 75 percent of all the ball games. Failure to do this will cause the assistant not to be able to come back and assist or coach next year.
CLUB NOTE: We know these rules are strict, but we’ve had so many complaints in the past that this is the only option to remedy the problem and get everyone’s attention. We want our kids to look up to the coach with respect. These kids have been in school and have followed rules and even follow rules at home and at he club, so why not make our coaches follow rules just like the kids. We want our kids to be able to just have fun. If you watch the kids play the game, after it’s over the kids are laughing and playing together. As coaches and parents, sometimes people let the game become more important than the children. Coaches and parents complain about who won or lost while their child is just having a good time. Remember that the kids are the most important part of this program. The kids may not be mad about petty problems that wouldn’t make that much difference anyway, but if they are seeing an adult who is that child’s role model angry about a decision, then that child will more or less be angered too. What kind of example or role model do we want to be for the kids in our club? Let’s just let our kids have fun. The hardest thing to do is learn how to lose with pride and dignity. We all know how to win, but when we can get along while losing it will make you a stronger person and winning will be that much more enjoyable.
